1968 Founding of MUNGO Befestigungstechnik AG
The MUNGO success story begins – like many great stories – in a garage. From this garage, company founder Arnold Schäfer started with a delivery van, a small warehouse and a big vision: reliable fastening solutions for the construction site.

1976 Opening of the branch in Stettenhofen (Germany)
Just eight years after its foundation, MUNGO expands into Germany. The new branch strengthens the sales structure in German-speaking countries.

1977 First nylon plug from in-house production
The trading company becomes a manufacturer: MUNGO launches its first self-developed nylon plug – a significant step towards in-house production of high-quality fastening technology.

1980 Move to a new administration and warehouse building
The rapid growth requires new premises. Administration and logistics move into a modern building that offers space for further growth.

1990 Introduction of the product line for chemical fasteners
MUNGO expands its portfolio to include chemical fastening solutions – a milestone in the depth of its product range and technological diversity.

1997 First steel bolts from our own production
With the introduction of cold forming at MUNGO, the production of our own steel bolts begins. Since then, these have been characterised by the highest quality and reliability – in use worldwide.

2004 Award in Japan for product innovation
MUNGO receives an innovation award in Japan for the MJP & MFJ plasterboard plugs – proof of international recognition and technological leadership.

2007 Market launch of the MQ Quattro® nylon anchor
MUNGO sets new standards in anchor technology with the quadruple expansion of the MQ Quattro®. The innovation is adapted by numerous manufacturers worldwide.

2015 Arnold Schäfer retires
After almost five decades, company founder Arnold Schäfer takes his well-deserved retirement. With great foresight, he hands over MUNGO Befestigungstechnik AG to a new management team and two private investors – a significant generational change that leads the company into a new phase of development.

2016 Market launch of the m2 steel bolt
The m2 steel bolt scores points with its revised design, enhanced performance and innovative Greentec® corrosion protection.

2018 Takeover by European private equity company
The private investors transfer the company to a European private equity company – with the aim of driving international growth forward.

2020 Founding of the subsidiary in India
MUNGO establishes its own branch in India to be able to serve customers directly in the fast-growing Asian market.

2021 Introduction of the m1 steel bolt
With the m1, a new high-performance steel bolt is introduced – optimised for maximum efficiency in demanding applications.

2022 Establishment of a central logistics centre in the EU
To improve delivery capability, the warehouse is relocated to a modern logistics centre in Germany – with a focus on speed, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

2024 Move to the new headquarters in Strengelbach
MUNGO moves into new, modern offices in Strengelbach – a strong signal for innovation, sustainability and future viability.

2024 Takeover by an international group of investors
A globally positioned group of investors takes over MUNGO with the aim of further strengthening its international market position and making targeted investments in innovation and expansion.
